Gary Brock 

Chief Operating Officer

Baylor Health Care System

Gary Brock is chief operating officer for Baylor Health Care System, an integrated health care delivery system serving the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas region. In his present role, he provides operational oversight of all of the Baylor Medical Centers and HealthTexas Provider Network, as well as for corporate services including nursing, clinical ancillary services, strategic planning and development, information services, managed care, and consumer affairs including marketing and public relations.  He also is co-leader of Baylor’s clinical transformation initiative and Best Care efforts, which are organized to optimize clinical operations to achieve significant quality, operational and financial improvements supported by information technology.

Throughout his distinguished 28-year career with Baylor, Brock has held many leadership positions. He served as president of Baylor Medical Center at Garland and senior vice president of managed care and physician network development.  He also served as president of HealthTexas Provider Network, Baylor’s primary physician practice management organization, from its inception in 1994 until 2000. Prior to joining Baylor, he was assistant administrator of McAlester Regional Hospital in McAlester, Okla. 

Mr. Brock is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Oklahoma.

An active member of the health care profession, Brock serves as a trustee on the Texas Hospital Association board.  He is the chairman of the Texas Health Ventures Group board of managers – a joint venture with United Surgical Partners International which has developed and operates 28 surgery centers and short-stay hospitals in partnership with local physicians in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.  He also serves as an advisory board member of the Healthcare Coalition of Texas and board member of the Baylor Quality Alliance.
