Tom Trenary 

President

Baylor Medical Center at Garland

Tom Trenary is president of Baylor Medical Center at Garland, a 240-bed acute care facility offering more than 30 specialties and an emergency department to Garland and surrounding communities.

Trenary’s career in health care spans more than three decades and encompasses senior leadership roles in health care organizations across the United States. Before joining Baylor, Trenary served as vice president of Operations for Medcath, an acute cardiac health care system based in Charlotte, North Carolina. In this position, he supervised the strategic planning, development, construction and operations for multiple hospitals.  Trenary has also held senior management positions with Transitional Hospitals Corporation, Tenet Healthcare Corporation and Community Hospitals of Central California.

Trenary is an active member of the greater Garland community serving on multiple boards and committees.

A native of Iowa and a military veteran, Trenary earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a master’s degree from California State University. He and his wife, Kate, have six children and five grandchildren.
