(GRAPEVINE, Texas, March 26, 2009) – Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine will be offering Saturday Digital Mammography Spa Days on April 4, 18 and 25 to make the life-saving screening* convenient for women who are too busy to visit a physician during the week. According to the American Cancer Society, women age 40 and older and those with an increased risk of developing breast cancer should receive an annual mammogram.
During this event, held at the Baylor Diagnostic Imaging Center in Grapevine, women will be pampered with a free hand massage and receive a free gift with their appointments. Refreshments and free parking will also be provided.
“Our Saturday Digital Mammography Spa Days will provide a relaxed and less stressful way to receive a very important cancer screening,” said Doug Lawson, Baylor Grapevine president. “We remain committed to promoting the importance of early detection to fight this deadly disease.”
The new digital mammography technology at Baylor Grapevine computerizes the X-ray, enabling physicians to use a lower dose of radiation. Digital mammography is better than traditional film mammography for women who are under age 50; those who have dense breasts, and those who are pre- or peri-menopausal. While reading the digital mammogram, physicians can easily adjust the brightness, contrast and zoom into questionable areas for a more precise view.
To schedule appointments, which begin at 7:30 a.m., please call 817-329-2501. If possible, please bring any previous mammogram records.
