A headache can ruin a perfectly good day, especially if it’s a migraine. Approximately 30 million Americans suffer from migraines – yet according to the National Headache Foundation, migraines are often misdiagnosed as sinus or tension headaches. Physicians on the medical staff at Baylor can work with you to diagnose migraines and develop a treatment plan.

Certain foods, loud noises, hormones, or stress can trigger a migraine. Some people experience warning signs, like light flashes or tingling sensations right before the onset of a migraine. If you suspect you have migraines, keep a log of your headaches to help you and your physician detect your specific triggers.
If you have a severe headache that could be a migraine, the best things to do are keep hydrated with water, rest in a dark, quiet room and place a cool cloth on your head.
