Risk Factor Analysis of Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (IRB 010-116)

Study Description:

The primary objectives of this study are to estimate the incidence of cancers of all types in a prospective cohort of 9000 female BRCA1 and BRCA2 carriers and to evaluate whether or not oral contraceptive use reduces the risk of peritoneal cancer following oophorectomy in BRCA1 and BRCA2 carriers.

Inclusion Criteria:

» Women who harbor a mutation in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene and are 25 years old or older.

Exclusion Criteria:

» Women who do not harbor a mutated BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene. Women who harbor a mutated BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene but are not 25 years of age or older.
