The Kimberly H. Courtwright and Joseph W. Summers Institute of Metabolic Disease at Baylor Research Institute at Dallas provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services to children and adults suffering from metabolic diseases, which are disorders caused by a problem with the accumulation or lack of chemicals produced naturally in the body.

These inherited disorders of body chemistry are usually serious and often life-threatening. Other disorders may slow physical development in young patients, lead to devastating movement disorders or cause mental retardation.
