Beth Hudson joined Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation-Dallas (BIR) November 8, 2010, as vice president of nursing and ancillary services. She came to BIR with a professional background exclusively immersed in healthcare and has been an RN for 28 years.
Beth is a graduate of University of Illinois, with a Bachelor of Science in leisure studies and began her career in therapeutic recreation at Terrell State Hospital. She returned to school to obtain her Bachelor of Nursing at Northwestern University in 1984. Beth’s nursing career began at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago as a staff nurse on the Spinal Cord Injury Unit. She moved to Dallas where she returned to the field of psychiatric medicine for the next 17 years. In 2001, Beth received a Master of Science from Amberton University. After many years in the business development side of the behavioral health arena, Beth returned to her roots in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
At BIR, Beth is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating the delivery of safe, quality and compassionate care with nursing and ancillary services. She also represents BIR nursing with Baylor Health Care System. Beth has always worked closely with all of BIR’s owned and managed nursing units. On April 1, 2013, Beth’s title changed to chief nursing officer. She continues to be responsible for nursing and ancillary services at BIR Dallas, the director of nursing and nurse mangers at the owned and managed nursing units have a dotted-line reporting relationship to Beth. This change will support efforts to continuously improve and integrate best practices from Baylor and Select across all of BIR.
