Cindy Murray currently serves as Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie. As Chief Operating Officer, she is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating the efficient delivery of patient care. As the Chief Nursing Officer, she is the voice of the patient, advocating for both patients and quality care.
Additionally, she develops and implements nursing, radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, cardiopulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation department budgets, policies and procedures to meet goals. Murray represents 162 nurses in this combined role. During her time at Baylor Scott & White – Waxahachie, formerly Baylor Waxahachie, the facility has received the 2007 Texas Medical Foundation Quality Award and the 2008 VHA Award for Quality Care.
Murray has been with Baylor since 2006, but has enjoyed a role in health care for over 13 years, beginning her career in surgical services. She recently served as interim CNO at the University of Texas Southwestern Hospitals where she held numerous clinical leadership positions. During her tenure, she played a key role in improving operational efficiencies.
Prior to her career in health care, Murray spent 12 years in sales and customer service management. Her areas of expertise concentrated on operational efficiencies and increasing sales volume. While in this career path, she earned several awards in recognition of her leadership ability.
Murray is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the Association of Peri-Operative Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau honor society for nursing, American Nurse Association, Texas Nurse Association and Historic Waxahachie. She serves on the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council advisory board. In 2008, Murray was recognized by the Dallas/Fort Worth Hospital Nurse Administrators Forum and Texas Nurses Association Districts Three and Four as one of the Great 100 Nurses.
Murray received her bachelor of nursing degree from Texas Woman’s University, as well as a master’s in business administration and a master’s in health care administration. She is a Fellow of the J&J/Wharton Executive Management Program, The Wharton School, at the University of Pennsylvania.
