Melissa Winter, RN, MSN

THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano

 

Melissa Winter has been with THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano since 2006. She currently serves in the combined role of Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. In this role, Winter is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating nursing and ancillary services to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, efficient and compassionate guest care.

 

At THE HEART HOSPITAL, Winter represents 160 nurses while she serves as a member of the executive leadership team. She collaborates regularly with the physicians to continually improve the hospital’s best practices while striving to achieve the hospital’s mission and vision.

 

Winter began her tenure successfully opening THE HEART HOSPITAL which is an advanced hospital that is consistently ranked in the top one percent of hospitals nationwide, according to Press-Ganey patient satisfaction surveys. She has kept turnover rates below six percent – all while continuously working to improve the delivery of safe, quality, compassionate guest care. Winter leads a multidisciplinary team that includes physician champions, each of whom is dedicated to tracking, trending, and improving the quality of care for the hospital’s guests. THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano exceeds all Quality benchmarks for the state of Texas, CMS, ACC, STS and Baylor Health Care System.

 

Winter arrived at THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano from Lubbock Heart Hospital where she was involved in the start-up operation of a new, physician-owned venture. At Lubbock Heart, Ms. Winter served as Nurse Manager of three departments and 140 employees. During her two-year tenure, she maintained minimum staff vacancy and turnover rates, achieved the top one percent on patient satisfaction, and shared in the commitment to build a culture of dedicated and accountable nursing.

 

Winter is a graduate of West Texas A&M University where she earned her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration. Upon graduating, she began her nursing career in 1999 in a Cardiac ICU. Winter is a member in good standing of the Texas Organization of Nurses, American Nurses Association, American Organization of Nurse Executives and the Texas Nurses Association.
