Our med/surg nurses include those working on medical, surgical and telemetry units. They are expert practitioners and valued partners of the total health care team. They improve patient outcomes with evidence-based practice and are recognized for their accomplishments.

Variety of Settings

Our system of 13 hospitals and more than 80 clinics allows you to work in your preferred med/surg setting, including:

  • Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas (BUMC) is one of only two Level I trauma centers in North Texas
  • BUMC and Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital are both Magnet facilities
  • BUMC offers the country's only Ventricular Assist Device to receive the Gold Seal of Approvals from the Joint Commission 
  • The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano offers Level IV Open Heart Cardiac nursing opportunities. All beds are universal beds.
  • Baylor Specialty Hospital provides the chance to work with some of our most medically complex patients in a long-term acute care environment
  • The new Andrews Women's Hospital at Baylor All Saints Medical Center at Fort Worth offers a Level III intensive care unit for premature and low-birth weight infants
  • All Baylor Health Care System hospitals across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex provide full emergency services, 24 hours a day, seven days a week – and Emergency Departments across the system are expanding.

ASPIRE Program

Our nurses also benefit from the ASPIRE Program, which provides opportunities for staff RNs to continue their professional growth and development and awards a bonus after successful completion. Bonuses range from $2,000 to $5,000, depending on the level.

Flexible Schedules

Baylor has been offering flexible schedules for more than 20 years. We invented the Baylor Plan, which provides full-time benefits and a generous shift differential for working 24 hours during the weekends.

Full-time nurses may also work three 12-hour, four 10-hour or five 8-hour shifts.

PRNs can also work the schedule that best suits their needs. If you work at least eight hours per month, you can participate in continuing education classes and contribute to our generous 401(k) plan.
