The Movement Disorders Center which is a part of the Laura Leonard Hallum Neuroscience Center at Baylor All Saints Medical Center provides full evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for patients with neuromuscular disorders.
Analysis in a sophisticated gait (way of walking) lab, as well as physical and occupational Therapy, can help patients who have difficulty walking learn alternate ways of moving.
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) suppresses tremor by delivering mild electrical stimulation to block brain signals that cause the uncontrollable shaking, rigidity, gait difficulties and other symptoms of some movement disorders. DBS also may improve quality of life for patients with Parkinson's disease, Dystonia and patients with Tourette's Syndrome.
Through the Movement Disorders Center, patients also have access to the expertise and services of Carter Rehabilitation and Fitness Center on the campus of Baylor All Saints Medical Center, Baylor Research Institute and Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas.
