The Midwife Center

Meeting the Needs of Women Now and In the Future

The Midwife Center at Andrews Women's Hospital, located on the campus of Baylor All Saints Medical Center, provides many services just for women.

These include:
  • family planning
  • well-woman gynecology
  • prescriptions
  • prenatal care
  • labor and delivery management
  • pain management including epidural anesthesia
  • social services
  • postpartum care
  • counseling in all areas of health maintenance

We provide care tailored to address every stage of a woman's life from puberty through menopause.

The midwives at Baylor Fort Worth's Andrews Women's Hospital...the word "midwife" means "with woman"

A certified nurse-midwife (CNM) is trained as a nurse and as a midwife. Most CMNs have master's degrees, and all are certified by examination through The American College of Nurse Midwives. They are a primary care provider for normal maternity, newborn and gynecological care.

The CNMs on the allied health professional staff at the Midwife Center at Andrews Women's Hospital also have advanced degrees in nursing and public health.

"Best Practice" Birth Center

The Texas Health Care Nurse-Midwives has identified Baylor Fort Worth as a "best practice" facility for operative vaginal births. The Texas Health Care Nurse-Midwives have participated for many years in the American College of Nurse-Midwives Benchmarking Program (ACNMBP).

The program enables Baylor Fort Worth to compare itself to other high volume midwife practices and obstetrics providers of similar size. Benchmarking is one part of our internal quality assurance program.
