Help Us Help Others

It's never been easier to become a volunteer at Baylor. You can complete and submit our volunteer application or simply call us at 214.820.2441 if you have any questions.

Learn about the opportunities Baylor has for volunteers:

Adult Program (adults 25 years and older)

We invite you to join us as a volunteer at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. Please complete our detailed application so we can learn more about your interests, skills, and availability. We appreciate your interest in our facility and your willingness to give back to the community.

Summer Student Program (ages 15 through college)

During the summer break a limited number of student-only volunteer opportunities are available at Baylor University Medical Center. Generally, the opportunities are located in public areas with the goal or providing great customer service to our guests. To apply please contact our office at 214.820.2441 between January and March and we will send you our extensive summer-only volunteer application. Applications will not be accepted beyond March 31. Other Baylor facilities also have summer programs; contact those facilities directly as summer dates and deadlines vary.

Types of Volunteer Work

As a volunteer at Baylor, patients, families and staff appreciate your time and service. From answering phones to comforting families during a traumatic event, our volunteers make a significant impact on our patients and the community.

Volunteer duties might include*:

  • Providing comfort, encouragement, and support to patients
  • Assisting staff on nursing units
  • Delivering mail and flowers to patients
  • Greeting patients
  • Assisting in the gift shop
  • Sponsoring fundraisers
  • Awarding scholarships
  • Participating in health fairs
  • Assisting with clerical support
  • Performing general office duties

Volunteers provide important services, so we make every attempt to match interests, skills, and availability with hospital needs.

The purpose of our volunteer organization is to promote and advance health care to patients and their families at Baylor. We enthusiastically welcome individuals of all backgrounds and abilities who wish to volunteer.

Applicants will be asked to submit information and meet certain qualifications. Each Baylor location has its own requirements, so the volunteer process may be different at various facilities. Requirements may include:

  • a general health screening
  • background check (in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act)
  • submission of personal references
  • patient care training (if the nature of the volunteer service requires patient contact)
