Educational Programs

Other education programs are not specific to a particular type of cancer but provide education on general topics.

  • Clinical Updates is a monthly program designed to give information on a specific topic or disease.
  • Virginia R. Cvetko Living with Cancer is a special education program designed for all cancer patients, families, and caregivers, with topics including nutrition, exercise, and complementary therapies. Patients are also given the opportunity to share their cancer experience with other cancer survivors.
  • Look Good . . . Feel Better is a quarterly program, cosponsored by the American Cancer Society that helps women cope with the visible side effects of cancer treatment.
  • Wisdom for Life is a program designed specifically to address the special needs of those with cancer.

Some programs offered by the Cvetko Center are designed to provide tools that may reduce tension, anxiety, anger or fatigue.

  • Express Yourself! Using various art materials this workshop introduces cancer patients and caregivers to a form of expression without words; acknowledging feelings that surround the diagnosis of cancer. Experience with art is not required.
  • Relaxation Made Easy is a program that provides a series of relaxation techniques.
  • Healing Through Journaling uses writing techniques to help people gain insight and improve communication during treatment.
