Hours

  • Monday through Friday, 4 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Weekends: Saturday and Sunday, 24 hours (from Friday 4 p.m. to Monday, 7 a.m.)

    To access the Oncology Evaluation and Treatment Center services, patients must contact their oncologist. He/she will contact the center to make arrangements for their patient’s arrival.

    The Oncology Evaluation and Treatment Center (OETC) provides scheduled urgent, non-emergency medical care, on weeknights and 24/7 on weekends, for those receiving cancer care at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. Cancer patients have certain needs and can be especially susceptible to infection.

    • This center was created specifically for cancer patients. Staff are trained and knowledgeable about the specific issues, symptoms and side effects related to cancer and its treatments.
    • The center was created to reduce the waiting time to receive care and for cancer patients in need of urgent, but not emergency care, during weekday evening hours and 24/7 on weekends, and to help reduce their exposure to contagious diseases from others. 
    • Because the OETC provides only scheduled urgent, non-emergency medical care, cancer patients should come to the OETC for medical care only if instructed to do so by their oncologist. 
    • Cancer patients in need of emergency medical care should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
