Perineum (Vulva) Cancer

Perineum cancer is cancer of the vulva, a woman's external genitals. This is a very rare form of cancer. Most often, these are cancers of the main cell type of the skin - squamous cell carcinomas - but a form of skin cancer known as melanoma can also develop in the vulva.

Perineum cancer usually affects women over age 50 and the cause is generally unknown, although being infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV) may contribute to developing vulvar cancer.
