The Simple 7 

The Simple 7 was designed by the American Heart Association with the goal of educating the public on how to best live. These measures have one unique thing in common: any person can make these changes, the steps are not expensive and even modest improvements to your health will make a big difference. Start with one or two today!

  • If you smoke, quit
  • Reduce body mass index to less than 25
  • Physical activity of at least 150 minutes (moderate) or 75 minutes (vigorous)each week
  • Four to five key components of a healthy diet consistent with current AHA guideline recommendations
  • Total cholesterol of less than 200 mg/dL
  • Get blood pressure below 120/80 mm Hg
  • Fasting blood glucose less than 100 mg/dL
