Colon Cancer Screening 

Early Detection Can Help Save Your Life

Colon cancer screening is the key to early detection and high survival rates. Yet. 50 percent of peopl over age 50 don't get screened. As a result, colorectal cancer remains the third most deadliest cancer.

Following the American Cancer Society's screening guidelines for colorectal cancer is important because most cases have no symptoms. Beginning at age 50, both men and women at average risk should undergo one of these five screening options:

  • Yearly stool blood test or fecal immunochemical test 
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years
  • Yearly stool blood test and flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years
  • Double-contrast barium enema every five years
  • Colonoscopy every 10 years
