Pre-Procedure Instructions

Call the Pre-Assessment Center in advance of your surgery for pre-surgery instructions and to provide any additional information that may be needed. You may also be asked to attend a pre-assessment appointment.

What To Expect

For patients, family members and caregivers:
  • Only patients are allowed in pre-op, where they meet and convene with their surgical team. Following preparation, the patient is taken to an assigned operating room.
  • In the operating room, monitors are applied, anesthesia is administered and the patient is closely monitored throughout the procedure. During surgery, a nurse will update family members in the waiting area after surgery.
  • Patient recovery occurs in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for about two hours. A PACU nurse will update family members and provide post-operative instructions for home care.
