The Joan Katz Breast Center at Baylor All Saints Medical Center at Fort Worth offers comprehensive, compassionate breast services on one campus for those diagnosed with breast cancer in Tarrant County and surrounding areas.
Our breast specialists offer coordinated breast cancer care to better serve men and women newly diagnosed, in the midst of treatments or living as a breast cancer survivor.
Located on the Baylor Fort Worth campus, the "center without walls" brings together nurse navigation, breast screenings, diagnosis, treatment, tumor conferences, counseling, social support, and breast wellness and education.
Baylor Fort Worth has received the Commission on Cancer accreditation from the American College of Surgeons. The program sets quality of care standards for cancer programs and reviews programs to ensure they conform to their high standards.
Patient navigation is available to all patients regardless of where they receive their direct medical services. The role of the navigator is to help patients understand their diagnosis and coordinate their care and treatment services. There is no fee for patient navigation, social services or related support programs.
An informed patient is a prepared patient. To help educate patients about the different types of breast cancer, the Center offers a well-stocked library, computer stations with prescreened Websites and ongoing educational classes. The nurse navigator also provides one-on-one education for patients and their families.
Social work makes important contributions across the cancer continuum from prevention, detection and diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. The Center social worker optimizes quality of life and quality of care for those impacted by breast cancer by helping to identify and mobilize resources, link patients to community resources, assist with alleviating stressors, and support coping strategies. These services are provided free of charge.
According to researchers, women who attended breast cancer support groups showed improvement by reporting lower levels of stress and anxiety and improved feelings of support. The Breast Center offers support groups to strengthen the body, mind and emotions, as well as a group meeting room designed for comfort and privacy.
