Navigating Your Cancer Journey

Because the diseases of cancer are complex, the Joan Katz Breast Center's Patient Navigation Program offers assistance in navigating the cancer journey. Our nurse navigator understands your needs and provides the ability for you to focus on healing.

A nurse navigator is a nurse who helps ensure timely diagnosis and treatment by:

  • Simplifying access to the Baylor All Saints and Joan Katz Breast Center services such as education, support, transportation and identification of resources needed
  • Access to the many specialists and  support team with expertise in diagnosing and treating cancer 
  • Assistance in scheduling appointments 
  • Providing general cancer information 
  • Helping you and your caregiver understand your personalized plan of care

The nurse navigator is the cornerstone of The Joan Katz Breast Center. She is a Certified Breast Health Navigator and collaborates with patients and families during the course of diagnosis, treatment and healing by becoming an advocate and guide.

Because the treatment of breast cancer requires the interaction of multiple specialists, nurse navigation provides a coordinated, integrated and compassionate approach to each patient's treatment.
