For more than 12 million people affected, scoliosis can be depressing, painful and exhausting. The condition can lead to progressive deformity of the spine and incapacitating pain. Yet there is hope. The Baylor Scoliosis Center, with locations in Fort Worth and Plano, offers treatment for both adolescent and adult scoliosis.
The Baylor Scoliosis Center specializes in advanced surgical and non-surgical options to straighten spines curved because of scoliosis, a common disorder of the spine. Since January 2005, the Baylor Scoliosis Center has focused on the care of adolescent and adult scoliosis patients. We are a national referral center located on the campus of Baylor All Saints Medical Center at Fort Worth and Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano.
Philosophically, the Center emphasizes continuity of care: patients of all ages are treated at the Center, from adolescents to adults. Families whose children are treated at the Center will have the same physicians care for them once they reach adulthood. This approach allows the long-term treatment plan to be implemented without interruption.
The Baylor Scoliosis Center care model makes both physician referral and patient scheduling a priority: a direct physician telephone line allows most doctor referrals to be seen within 48 hours if requested. Paperwork for the referring physician is minimized and the communication of findings takes place by telephone or by timely referent letter within one week, in most cases. The result is that the patient's anxiety, especially for pediatric referrals, is minimized.
The Center is a resource for physicians and patients devoted to the most advanced treatments for spinal deformity within the framework of a patient-centered and physician-friendly atmosphere.
Great advances in the diagnosis and treatment of scoliosis have occurred in recent years. Too often, people suffering from scoliosis are told that they have nowhere to turn, but there is.
Patient care and comfort is our goal. Every patient is assigned their own patient care coordinator who helps schedule surgery times, pre-op appointments, post-op care and coordinate any required insurance paperwork.
