At Baylor All Saints Medical Center's Andrews Women's Hospital, an important part of our mission is to improve the safety, comfort and delivery of gynecological care, from routine health maintenance, to reproductive procedures, surgical interventions and improved pelvic health.

Our newly constructed facility places medical advancements in the hands of highly skilled physicians on our medical staff who specialize in women's health issues.

Gynecological Surgery

Women undergoing gynecological surgery at Baylor Fort Worth's Andrews Women's Hospital receive specialized, 24-hour care in our innovative surgical and recovery suites. There are separate areas for patient triage, day surgery and inpatient care.

• Advanced gynecological equipment includes the daVinci S HD Surgical System, featuring a robotic surgical device superior to traditional laparoscopic techniques. Because the system mimics the precise movements of a surgeon's hand and offers enhanced, 3D images, it is suitable for more complicated surgeries
• Our advanced surgical technology and techniques usually lead to shorter hospital stays, reduced pain, more rapid healing and faster return to normal activities
• Surgical procedures performed include hysterectomy, pelvic reconstruction, prolapse repair, bladder support, ablation, minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures and more - many performed on an outpatient basis
• Newly integrated operating rooms for increased efficiency and productivity

Our staff includes skilled, board-certified physicians and surgeons on our medical staff, a quality anesthesia department, professional nursing staff and a host of support staff.

Being Informed

Knowing what to expect before and after surgery can help reduce any concerns you might have. Our staff offers the latest in surgical patient education, providing complete preoperative through discharge instructions.

Before surgery, you may be asked to:

• Stop smoking; it may constrict blood vessels and increase healing time
• Have blood, urine and other tests per your physician
• Stop taking certain medications which may increase the chance of bleeding
• Stop eating/drinking a certain number of hours before surgery
• Sign a consent form

After surgery:

• You will spend a few hours in recovery
• You will be moved to another room
• Our nursing staff will explain post-surgical care, including medications
• You will be provided detailed home care instructions and recommendations for follow-up
