The BIR B-Hive

The 3rd floor at Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation (BIR) is dedicated to traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other neurologically involved patients. We recognized the need to have a comfortable place for these patients to be social and engage in activities outside of their therapy time, so we decided to transform the dining room into an activity room. With new paint and furniture, flat screen TV, DVD player, Wii video game console, computers and magazines, the "B-Hive" has become safe and enjoyable place for our patients to relax, read, watch movies or simply hang out and interact with other patients. The “B-Hive” is staffed by our trained technicians who are very familiar with these particular diagnoses and supervise all activities. We feel "The B-Hive" will lead to a decrease in falls, increase in patient satisfaction, and overall improved care for our neurologically involved patients.

For more information on the BIR “B-Hive” please contact Julia Marton, OT at 214.820.9270 or Juliash@baylorhealth.edu
