BIR Dallas Specialty Programs 

Annually, Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation (BIR) Specialty Programs at the Baylor Tom Landry Center treats about 4,000 patients. Our staff specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation, but also is capable of treating traumatic brain injury, spinal cord disorders, amputations and a wide variety of bone and joint conditions.

We can also provide urodynamic studies and pain relief, as well as pain relief with complementary therapies such as acupuncture. 

One of our main areas of focus is helping transition inpatients at BIR’s inpatient facility to an outpatient setting. Our facility features six exam rooms, seven physicians on our medical staff, as well as technologically advanced equipment for diagnosis and treatment, including:

  • Two electromyography machines
  • Ultrasound for specific injections
  • Urodynamic study machine
  • Equipment for Botox Therapy
  • Baclofen pump programmer
  • Doppler machine

Clinical Staff

In addition to seven physicians on our medical staff, we have skilled clinicians who specialize in rehabilitation.

Center Director: Jessica (Jesi) Watts, RN, CCAP
Jesi is working toward her Master’s in Nursing with a focus in Leadership in Health Systems. She has spent more than 10 years as an inpatient and outpatient nurse in specialty areas such as: orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery, trauma, neonatal intensive care unit, outpatient orthopedic surgical clinic, nurse educator and inpatient medical telemetry. She also has certifications in complementary and alternative medicines, including aromatherapy. 

Rehabilitation Nurse: Debbie Patty, RN, CCRN
Debbie has two decades of experience in health care. For a dozen years, Debbie worked at the Outpatient Clinic at BIR Dallas. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse with special training in urodynamic studies and is able to perform inpatient/outpatient patient studies on a referral basis. As an inpatient rehabilitation nurse, Debbie taught the neurogenic bowel and bladder classes to patients and families.
