Volunteers at Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton are compassionate, knowledgeable and resourceful individuals united with a common goal of supporting the mission and vision of Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton.

How do Volunteers Serve?

  • Serve patients, visitors and employees in the volunteer-supported information desk
  • Provide comfort items and assistance to patients and their families
  • Assist staff on nursing units
  • Deliver mail, flowers and e-mail to patients
  • Escort patients and visitors throughout the facility
  • Perform general office duties
  • Sponsor fundraisers
  • Participate in community health fairs
  • Serve on hospital committees, auxiliary committees or the auxiliary board
  • Be involved in a specialty program

What are Specialty Programs?

These volunteer placements may require special training or the volunteer may have experienced certain medical procedures.  Areas include:

  • Certified pet therapy escort
  • Cancer survivor or close relative
  • Weight loss surgery patient
  • Retired registered nurse (RN)
  • Serving as a Volunteer Advisor on hospital committees

How do I Become a Volunteer?

  • Fill out the Volunteer Services Application
  • Mail or email the completed Volunteer Services Application to the address provided or hand deliver it to the main information desk
  • Meet with the volunteer services staff to discuss your interests and availability. A six month commitment is usually requested.
If a placement is found for you, volunteers: 
  • Schedule a meeting with the employee health nurse and complete a TB screening
  • Submit to a background screening
  • Attend a general orientation session
  • Receive training

What are the Opportunities for Student Volunteers?

Applications are accepted year round for college volunteer positions. Opportunities for college students are available on a semester basis.

Applications for high school students are accepted December 1- March 1.

Eligible students must be at least 14-years-old by January 1 and are considered in this category through the summer after high school graduation. High School Students are required to submit two sealed letters of recommendation with their application. Once accepted into the program, several additional forms will be provided for completion. Students must be available to work one full summer session.
