Packing Your Bag for the Hospital 

What to Bring for Mom

While in the hospital you will only need essential items. Please pack a small bag for labor and delivery, and bring the remainder of your luggage to postpartum after the birth of your baby. Other items that you may want to bring include:

  • Comfortable pajamas or loose-fitting casual wear (nursing gown or breastfeeding clothing for those who will be breastfeeding)
  • Bras (nursing bras for those who will be nursing)
  • Underwear
  • Robe
  • Slippers or loose-fitting shoes
  • Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to wear home
  • Camera
  • Nursing pillows
  • Bed pillows with a pillow case other than white
  • Snacks for your support person
  • Money for vending machines
  • Phone numbers of friends and relatives to contact
  • CD player to play relaxing music during labor
  • Any comfort tools you may have learned about in childbirth class
What to Bring for Baby

While your baby is in the hospital, we will provide diapers, t-shirts and receiving blankets. You will need to bring the following items:

  • Special clothing for baby's first picture
  • Socks or booties
  • Car seat (read the manufacturer's instructions and know how to secure your baby for the ride home)
  • Receiving blanket or cover blanket depending on the weather for your tip home
  • Clothing to wear home
  • Name and contact information of your baby's physician
