Maternity Services

Before you deliver, you and your family are invited to take a tour of our Birth Center. Tours are included in the Weekend Childbirth Seminar and Prepared Childbirth class. If you are not attending a class but interested in touring our facility, please call 1.800.4BAYLOR (1.800.422.9567).

The physicians, nurses and staff of the Women's and Children's Services at Baylor Carrollton have just one goal: to ensure the health and well-being of every mother and baby we see. Nothing is more important to us and we hope the facilities and services we offer are a testament to that. More importantly, we hope the warm, compassionate care of everyone here will help make this very special time even more significant.

Our Birth Center includes:

• 28-bed newborn nursery
• 12-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• 12 Labor and Delivery Rooms
• 29 Post Partum Rooms
• Lactation support
• Advanced Infant Security System

Labor and Delivery:

• Each room is equipped with fetal monitoring and charting systems that enable the staff to care for you and your baby
• Includes two surgical suites for cesarean deliveries with 24 hour anesthesia support
• Maternal/fetal medicine services are also available

Postpartum Unit

• Offers private rooms for every new mom
• Family-centered environment with several accommodation options
• Advanced security system to protect mom and baby
• Offers on-going educational support, including a lactation program with private consultation available
• Includes a classroom designated for maternity education

Newborn Nursery

• Provides specialized care by physicians on the medical staff
• Staffed by RN’s specializing in the care of infants
• State of the art equipment and an advanced infant security system for your peace of mind

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

• Capable of handling premature and high-risk infants
• Neonatal care by Board-Certified Neonatologists, Pediatricians and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners on the medical staff
• Offers developmentally appropriate care in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary care team

Lactation Support

Breastfeeding education starts during special sessions of our prenatal classes with lactation consultants and educators helping expectant families prepare. Private consultations are offered as needed during your postpartum stay to further support the breastfeeding process.

Safety for You and Your Baby

One thing you will be acquainted with on your tour of our Birth Center is our infant security system. A special device causes all doors to lock down and alerts our staff if any infant is carried close to or beyond the entrance of the Birth Center. We also use a tamperproof system that matches you and your baby throughout your stay. You can feel assured that your baby is safe and secure in our hospital.
