The Daytime Emmy Award-winning host of the nationally syndicated “The Dr. Oz Show,” Mehmet Oz, visited the Diabetes Health and Wellness Institute (DHWI) on Thursday, Sept. 16, to discuss his self-diagnostic health quiz called “Know Your Five: The Lifesaving Numbers You Need to Know.” The five metrics include blood pressure, waist size, weight, cholesterol and fasting blood sugar.
Dr. Oz is the newest star in Oprah Winfrey’s television galaxy and spent more than five hours at DWHI, first cooking a healthy meal, then chatting with DWHI patients and conducting personal health screenings based on the above-mentioned five metrics.
For an up-close-and-personal look at his visit, please check out the WFAA channel 8 story and the story in The Dallas Business Journal.
In addition to serving as vice chair and professor of surgery at Columbia University and directing the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Oz is the author of more than 400 original publications, book chapters, and medical books; has received several patents; and performs more than 100 heart surgeries each year. He’s also been named one of Forbes’ most influential celebrities (10) and has been honored as one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People (44).
