Martha Foster Lung Care Center

Expert Care

The Martha Foster Lung Care Center's physicians include board-certified pulmonologists and allergists, supported by a staff of registered respiratory therapists and registered nurses. This team has extensive experience in the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma and other breathing disorders, and is recognized both nationally and locally as leaders in respiratory care.

The Martha Foster Lung Care Center's community involvement has led to a close partnership with the Dallas Independent School District. Educational symposia for school personnel; an award-winning asthma education video, WAIR , produced for instructors and nurses; along with screening and treatment initiatives within district elementary schools that have been published and presented in national forums, exemplify the seriousness of Baylor's commitment to the community it serves.

A focus of the Martha Foster Lung Care Center's efforts centers on breathing-related exercise limitation, whether from exercise-induced asthma or from COPD-triggered symptoms. Through optimal medical therapy and appropriate exercise training, patients can learn to recapture breathing and exercise ability. For patients with chronic lung conditions, a Martha Foster Lung Care Center-sponsored six-week pulmonary rehabilitation program has been shown to improve both exercise and functional capacity at work or at home.
