Meet Our Team 


Kathy Chaney, RN, MS, IBCLC

Kathy is the manager of inpatient lactation. She coordinates all in-patient lactation programs at Baylor in the New Family Center and NICU. Kathy has been a nurse at Baylor for 18 years. Her experience is NICU nursing and breastfeeding support. Kathy has been a nurse for 20 years and currently holds a master's degree in advanced nursing leadership from Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. She is the mother of two grown boys, one teenager and most recently added a daughter-in-law.

Kathyrn Higman, RN, BSN

Kat is a graduate of University of Arkansas and has been at Baylor since 2007. She is an experienced postpartum and newborn nursery nurse and has a national certification in maternal newborn nursing. Kat works as a bedside nurse in the New Family Center, newborn nursery and teaches baby care and breastfeeding classes.

Vanessa Kelly, BS, LCCE

Vanessa is an instructor for Parent Education. She teaches prepared childbirth, CPR and leads our maternity tours and new mom support group.  Vanessa also works as a breastfeeding clerk for Simply Moms. She has been with Baylor for three years and is the mother of two.

Paige Johnson, RN, BSN

Paige is one of our Parent Education instructors who teaches prepared childbirth, CPR and baby care basics. She is an experienced NICU nurse who has worked in Baylor’s level III unit. Paige is also the mother of two Baylor babies. 

Tina Conner, RN, BSN, IBCLC

Tina is a board certified lactation consultant. She has been at Baylor for 15 years. She specializes in NICU breastfeeding support.

Theresa Bello, RN, IBCLC

Theresa is a board certified lactation consultant with more than 20 years of nursing experience. Theresa specializes in postpartum breastfeeding support and is also a breastfeeding instructor for Parent Education.

Lindsay Newland, RN, BSN, IBCLC

Lindsay is a board certified lactation consultant and RN with a background in NICU nursing. Lindsay also serves as a childbirth educator.


Susan Peterson, RN, IBCLC

Susan's nursing background consists of postpartum and newborn nursery. She has worked as a board certified lactation consultant for years and serves on several breastfeeding support counsels.


Christine Knefley, LCCE, MS

Christine is master prepared in child life development and is a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. Christine is a mother of three Baylor babies. She currently teaches prepared childbirth and baby care basics. Christine is also a certified car seat safety instructor and specializes in infant massage.
