Head and Neck Cancer Clinic/Speech Pathology 

Baylor Sammons Cancer Center offers a coordinated team of physician specialists on the medical staff at Baylor Dallas, dentists associated with the Baylor College of Dentistry and other medical professionals, who work together to design the best diagnosis and treatment plan for each head and neck cancer patient.

Speech pathology services are part of the multidisciplinary oncology outpatient clinic and provide intervention focusing on swallowing and communication deficits specific to the oncology patient.

Available services include:

  • Clinical evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders with
  • Specialty assessments available including fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) 
  • Modified barium swallow studies (Dysphagiagrams).
  • In addition to traditional dysphagia therapy, the clinic also provides neuromuscular electrical stimulation for swallowing.

The clinic is equipped to meet the needs of patients with:

  • Voice disorders such as post-laryngectomy rehabilitation, including tracheoesophageal prosthesis placement and management 
  • Electrolarynx training, as well as videostroboscopy and voice therapy.

The head and neck cancer clinic is a specialized center of treatment. Appointments are available through physician referral only.
