Education & Support

Virginia R. Cvetko Patient Education Center

Cancer education and support are an important part of the cancer treatment process. The Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Dallas offers several programs through the Virginia R. Cvetko Patient Education Center to help you and your loved ones understand and manage the physical, emotional and spiritual challenges of cancer. The Cvetko Center staff includes a medical director, nurse educator, chaplains, social workers and trained cancer survivor volunteers.

Cancer patients and their families might benefit from several support programs:

  • Living with Cancer - a quarterly workshop which provides education and support
  • Look Good...Feel Better - an American Cancer Society program that helps patients undergoing cancer treatment feel more comfortable with the changes in their appearance
  • Wisdom for Women with Cancer - an educational program for women who have been diagnosed with cancer
  • Express Yourself- a program that inspires you to explore your cancer journey through color and shape. Art experience is not required and the program is open to patients and caregivers. Held every 2nd Wednesday from 9 - 10:30 a.m. in room 620 of the Collins building
  • Relaxation Made Easy - a program that explores relaxation techniques to reduce tension, anxiety, anger and fatigue.  Please call for class specifics.
