Surgery is often required to remove a malignant bone tumor. While sometimes this means amputating the affected limb, often the specialists on the medical staff at Baylor Dallas are able to perform limb-sparing surgeries to avoid amputation. They replace the diseased bone with a prosthetic implant. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy are also often used to possibly help further eliminate any malignant cells. The Baylor Sammons Bone Tumor Center offers advanced treatment options for malignant bone tumors. The Center is designed to streamline the diagnosis and treatment process to coordinate all aspects of care. Although each patient is different, most patients will undergo rehabilitation of the affected area after treatment. A Baylor case manager will evaluate your situation and condition and make inpatient and outpatient therapy recommendations to your physician.
