Diagnostic Techniques 

Regardless of the type of tumor suspected, the diagnostic options for brain and spinal cord tumors are the same:

  • CT Scan
  • MRI Scan
  • PET Scan

Baylor also offers special MRI techniques to aid in the diagnosis of a brain or spinal cord tumor including MR spectroscopy and MR perfusion.

Most patients will also require a biopsy or surgical resection for a definitive diagnosis.
