Blood Cancers: Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma 

Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center offers a comprehensive program to treat hematologic cancers and lymphomas.

We feature a program dedicated to treating patients with these types of blood cancers, staffed by a multidisciplinary team including physicians on the medical staff at Baylor University Medical Center, nurses, social workers, dietitians, therapists and other health care professionals.

Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT) is a standard of care for:

  • Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia
  • Acute Myelogenous Leukemia
  • Amyloidosis
  • Aplastic Anemia
  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
  • Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
  • Hodgkin's Lymphoma
  • Multiple Myeloma
  • Myelodysplastic Syndrome
  • Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
  • Sickle Cell Anemia
The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Baylor Dallas:
  • Has performed more than 5,000 adult bone marrow and blood stem cell transplants in the past 27 years
  • Is the largest BMT transplant center in North Texas
  • Performed North Texas' first adult marrow transplant in 1983
  • Performed Texas' first matched unrelated donor transplant in 1988

Center of Excellence

The Blood and Marrow Transplant program at Baylor Sammons Cancer Center is designated a Center of Excellence by:

  • Aetna's Institute of Quality for Transplant
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield's Blue Distinction Center for Transplant
  • United Healthcare's OptumHealth Transplant Network

Today, patients up to age 75 in otherwise good health are considered for transplantation. Older patients may also be considered after discussion with the transplant team.
