Diagnosis & Treatment Options 

Diagnostic Techniques

There are several tests your physician may recommend to diagnose kidney and testicular
 cancer, including:

  • Abdominal Ultrasound
  • Blood tests
  • Intravenous Pyelogram (IVP)
  • Kidney X-ray
  • Liver Function Tests
  • Physical exam of the abdomen revealing a mass or organ enlargement, particularly of the kidney or liver.
  • Renal Arteriography
  • Scrotal Ultrasound
  • Testicular Biopsy
  • Urine Cytology

Men 50 years or older should have annual exams to detect any prostate health issues early. African-American men and those with a family history of prostate cancer should begin this screening by age 40.

Prostate cancer can be detected with a combination of two tests:

  • Digital Rectal Exam
  • Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Blood Test

Treatment Options

Kidney Cancer Treatment Options

If you are diagnosed with kidney cancer, your physician may recommend one or a combination of treatment options, including:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation Therapy
  • Nephrectomy - (Removal of the Kidney)
  • Prostate Cancer Treatment Options

Urologic cancers are usually fought through a combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and disease-specific surgery (prostatectomy) as prescribed by your physician.

Some patients with prostate cancer are eligible for a minimally invasive, robotic-assisted prostatectomy using the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System.

Testicular Cancer Treatment Options

Treatment for testicular cancer may depend on the type of testicular cancer, including:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation Therapy
  • Cancer Research
