Concierge

Concierges are located in the lobbies of Roberts, Truett, and Jonsson hospitals, the lobby of Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center, Wadley and Barnett Towers Medical Plaza and the visitor lounge of the Emergency Department. They can provide maps, hotel and restaurant lists and other useful hospital information during peak visiting hours. The concierge desks are open daily from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

ATMs and Change Machine

Automated teller machines (ATMs) are located on the 1st floor of Jonsson,  Roberts as well as Barnett Tower in Medical Plaza. An ATM also is located in the basement of Truett, near the cafeteria, as well as in the reception area of the Emergency Department, 1st floor Roberts. A change machine is located in the reception area of the Emergency Department.

Business Services and Financial Counselor

Business Services can help you interpret financial policies and billing procedures, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays, at 972.579.8167 or 1.800.765.8621. A financial counselor in Admitting/Registration, 1st floor Jonsson, is available 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays to discuss financial arrangements. The financial counselor’s extension is 2-3484.

Cafes, Restaurant Information

Baylor Dallas offers four cafes, a cafeteria and three coffee bars, each with eat-in and take-out options.

• Truett Cafe, our cafeteria, is located in the basement of Truett Hospital and is open 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. daily. The cafeteria features a salad bar, pizza, grilled and cold sandwiches and wraps, home-style soups, hot entrees and side dishes, desserts, snacks, Chick-fil-A food items, Starbucks coffee and other beverages.
• Espresso Impressions, in the basement of Truett, is open 6 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. weekdays and offers Starbucks coffee, muffins, cakes and pastries.
• The Atrium Market is located on the 1st floor of Roberts, near the Roberts Gift Shop and is open 6:30 a.m. - 1:30 a.m. weekdays and 7:30 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. weekends. This market offers hot and cold meals, desserts, snacks, Starbucks coffee and other beverages.
• Frulatti Cafe and Bakery is located on the 1st floor of Barnett Tower and is open 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturdays.
• Cafe Charles is located on the 2nd floor and offers a menu of nourishing meals in a sunny and scenic setting that includes a balcony overlooking Landry Park. It is open 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. weekdays and is closed on the weekends.
• Latte Hope is a coffee bar that offers gourmet coffees, teas and pastries in a pleasant and relaxing environment near the sky bridge on the 2nd floor of the Cancer Center. It is open 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. weekdays.

Vending Machines for snacks and beverages are located on some patient floors on the lower levels of Hoblitzelle and Jonsson hospitals, in two areas of Roberts - on the lower level emergency department visitor lounge and at the elevators near the operating room - and on the second floor of Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center.

Cell Phone, Pager and PDA Use

The use of wireless communication devices such as cell phones, two-way pagers and personal digital assistants (PDAs) can interfere with medical equipment and is restricted in all patient care areas. Please restrict your use of these devices to visitor lounges and non-patient care areas.

Chapel & Prayer Garden

• Penland Chapel, 1st floor Truett, is open for prayer or meditation 24 hours a day. Protestant and Catholic services are held on Sundays.
• The Interfaith Garden of Prayer, a peaceful setting, is located in the heart of our campus on Junius Street, between Roberts Hospital and the new Baylor Cancer Hospital.
• There is also a chapel on the first floor of the new Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center, a meditation room on the second floor near the sky bridge, and a Healing Garden outside the front of the Cancer Center, offering a quiet place for prayer, contemplation and a moments rest.

Dietitians

We have registered dietitians and diet technicians to meet your nutritional needs. If you have questions about your menu, call 2-3497 for a diet technician. To learn more about health or special diet options, contact our outpatient dietitian at 214-820-7733.

Gift Shops

Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing patients food or drinks to ensure they are appropriate for the patient. In intensive care units, please check with nurses regarding any gifts.

• Roberts Gift Shop, 1st floor Roberts, sells plants and gifts 8 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturdays, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Sundays. Proceeds benefit student nurses' scholarships and special projects.
• Flowers are available at Flower Power, 1st floor Barnett Tower, 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sundays.
• Simply Mom’s, 1st floor Hoblitzelle, sells specialty breast feeding equipment and clothing for mothers and babies from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday. The extension is 2-3103.
• The Cancer Boutique, also known as Ernie’s Appearance Center, 2nd floor of Sammons Cancer Center, sells specialty clothing and items for cancer patients plus other gift items from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The extension is 2-8282.
• Sammons Cancer Center also has a gift shop located near the sky bridge entrance on the 2nd floor. They are open weekdays 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Housekeeping

Your room is cleaned daily by housekeeping staff. Sheets are changed every other day, unless they become soiled or you request otherwise. If there is a housekeeping issue in your room, please tell a staff member. Volunteers Baylor Dallas volunteers give many hours of service to help serve you better. Volunteers can be identified by their Baylor identification badges. 

Internet Access

Wireless laptops can be used in most areas of Baylor Dallas by connecting to our Visitor Wireless Network. Accessing this service depends on the availability of technical support staff, which also support hospital clinical staff and patient care-related information technology. Please check with your nursing staff about availability.

Plaza Pharmacy at Baylor Dallas

Located on the 1st floor of Barnett Tower across the hall from Baylor Dallas Human Resources. Open M - F, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Our pharmacy has a 24-hour automated voice response system, so you may enter your refill request or leave a message for the staff at any time throughout the day. Press 0 to speak to a live person.

New Patients/Update Existing Patient Information: If you are a new patient or want to update your information, please fill out the form below and fax it to our pharmacy at 214-820-4088. We will create a new patient profile for you or update your existing profile.

Prescription Refills: If you are an established patient and wish to refill a prescription, please call our 24-hour automated line at 214.820.3451. Follow the prompts and enter the number of the prescription you wish to refill. Your prescription will be filled within two business hours after the system accepts your refill request. Please be sure to include a phone number where we can contact you in case there is a problem.

If you have no refills left on your prescription, please let us know and we will gladly fax a refill request to your physician’s office on your behalf.

Surescript E-prescribing Pharmacy: We also are a Surescript E-prescribing pharmacy. This service enables a Surescript participating physician to send us your prescription electronically. Physicians who are not E-prescribers may call in a prescription or fax it to the pharmacy.

Post Office

There is a U.S. Post Office located in the parking garage, level P1 Medical Plaza, open from weekdays 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Take the elevators across from the Baylor Pharmacy to P1.

Room Telephone and Fax

Phones are provided in each patient room, except in the intensive care units and special procedure areas. Local and toll-free calls may be made by dialing 9 + the number. Toll calls, including long distance, require a credit card, phone card, third-party billing or operator assistance to call collect. You may limit incoming calls by asking a staff member to lower the ring volume or disconnect the phone. Guests needing a Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD) should notify the nurse. Fax machines are available in Guest Relations, 207 Barnett Tower.

Making Calls: For dialing assistance or general information, dial the hospital operator at 0. For in-hospital calls:

• If the number begins with (214) 820, dial 2 + the last four digits of the number.
• If the number begins with (214) 818, dial 3 + the last four digits of the number.
• Local calls can be made by dialing 9 + (area code) + (seven-digit number).
• Long-distance calls can be made by dialing 9 + 0 + (area code) + (seven-digit number).

Spiritual Care

We believe total patient care demands attention to one’s spiritual, as well as physical and emotional needs. Chaplains are available 24 hours a day and can be reached through your nurse. Your priest, minister, rabbi or other spiritual official is always welcome to visit. We actively partner with local ministers and communities of faith. George W. Truett, one of our founders, called for Baylor to be a place “where people of all faiths and those of none can come with equal confidence.”

Television

Each patient room, except for those in the intensive care units, features a 30-inch television. You may access hospital information and other useful information on Channel 2 as well as relaxing music on Channel 18. Please respect other patients by keeping the volume low and turning off sets at bedtime.

Visitor Lounge Areas

There are designated lounges for visitors on patient floors. Specific areas have been designated for guests in other areas. If you are in a large group, we ask for your consideration of other patients’ families when seating is limited.
