The self-evaluation test below will help you determine if you have symptoms that need medical attention.  

  1. Do you frequently experience an uncomfortable feeling behind the breastbone that seems to be moving upward from the stomach?
    Yes or No
  2. Do you frequently experience a burning sensation in the back of your throat?
    Yes or No
  3. Do you frequently experience a bitter, acid taste in your mouth?
    Yes or No
  4. Do you often experience the above problems after your meals?
    Yes or No
  5. Do you experience heartburn or acid indigestion two or more times per week?
    Yes or No
  6. Do you find that antacids only provide temporary relief from your symptoms?
    Yes or No
  7. Are you taking prescription medication to treat heartburn but you are still experiencing symptoms?
