Weight Loss Surgery

Weight loss surgery is for people who have tried to lose weight by other means, but are simply unable to shed weight and keep it off.

Whether you are tired of being overweight, have serious health concerns or simply want to feel better about your appearance, a surgical weight loss solution may be the answer for you.

Baylor Frisco offers three types of minimally-invasive surgical weight loss options.

  • Lap-Band
  • Gastric Sleeve
  • Gastric Bypass

Our multi-disciplinary team of physicians, nurses, dietitians and insurance coordinators are dedicated to providing quality care. We also have education and support groups for both pre and post operative care.

Why consider surgery?

Patients who are morbidly or severly obese are at increased risk for health problems including diabetes, heart disease, joint disease and reflux disease - and tend to have a shortened lifespan. The risk of severe obesity is greater than that of its surgical treatment. You can improve both your overall health and the quality of your life.

Are you a candidate for surgery?

Only your surgeon can qualify you for weight loss surgery. In general, the Body Mass Index (BMI) helps determine who may qualify. Most patients need a BMI of 35 or greater and fall between the ages of 18 and 65. They must also have failed previous attempts at nonsurgical weight loss therapy.

What happens after surgery?

Our professional after-surgery support team will help you maintain a healthy diet and integrate exercise into your life. Your surgery marks the beginning of a healthier life, but it still takes a lifetime of commitment to lose the weight and keep it off. It is the aftercare and the changes a patient makes in his or her life that ensure long-term success.
