Steven Newton joined Baylor Health Care System in June 2004 and is president of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine. In 2011, he was named West region executive.
Prior to joining Baylor, Newton was chief operating officer of Health Midwest’s 545-bed not-for-profit flagship, Research Medical Center. After serving as COO for 16 months, he was appointed interim CEO and subsequently promoted to president and CEO. In 2001, Newton was named president of the six-hospital Health Midwest Central Region. He also served as CEO of Research Psychiatric Center, a 100-bed psychiatric hospital in Kansas City, then owned by HCA.
Newton is a cum laude graduate of Williams College and received a Master of Public Health degree from Yale University School of Medicine.
Currently, he is chair of the Healthy Tarrant County Collaborative and the American Heart Association, where he was chairman of the 2009 Heart Walk and the 2010 Heart Walk. He also serves as a board member of the Dallas/Fort Worth Hospital Council, the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Carter Blood Care, Cancer Care Services, Fort Worth South, and the Healing Shepherd Clinic. He also serves on advisory boards for TCU Leadership Center, where he is chair, Texas Hospital Association, Resource Recovery Council and UNTHSC School of Public Health, MHA Program and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
