After being diagnosed with a heart-related condition, adjusting to your life again can be difficult. Baylor Medical Center at Grapevine offers several support and education programs to help you get back on track.
Through the Caring Hearts program, volunteers offer help, encouragement and emotional support to cardiac patients and their families by serving as role models for a healthy recovery from a cardiac event. Pre- and post-interventional visits and pre- and post-surgical visits by a volunteer with a similar history help alleviate anxiety and provide support.
Our 12-week Cardiac Rehabilitation program on Monday, Wednesday and Friday benefits some cardiac patients by laying the groundwork for the development of a more heart-healthy lifestyle. Patients exercise on treadmills and stationary bikes to improve endurance, while being monitored by nurses. Cardiac education classes are also available to provide important information on nutrition, medications, symptoms of heart disease, coping with stress and more.
