The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine is able to provide detailed, 24-hour continuous electroencephalography (EEG) and audio-video monitoring. This technology enables our specialized team to measure a patient's brain waves and correlate that data with their behavior.
Patients will be admitted under the care of a hospitalist, with our skilled epileptologist overseeing their neurologic care. Our team also includes board certified and registered neuro diagnostics technologists and specially trained nurses.
Our medical director is an epileptologist, board-certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology and sleep medicine. The referring physician will find the information recorded during the study helpful in several clinical situations.
Activation procedures are often used to provoke seizures.
MRI and CT scans may also be ordered to aid in diagnosis.
To make your stay as comfortable as possible, our suites are equipped with televisions, DVD players, as well as wireless internet connections. Patients are encouraged to bring video games, books and any other items that will assist in creating a home-like atmosphere.
