Pulmonary Rehabilitation

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine provides comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with mild to severe asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and other pulmonary diseases.  The goal of the program is to return patients to their highest possible functional capacity.  The pulmonary rehabilitation team is made up of dedicated professionals with extensive training, experience and special interest in pulmonary health care and includes a medical director, registered nurses, a respiratory therapist, exercise physiologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist and registered dietitian.

Phase II

Phase II of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is an outpatient program, requiring a physician’s order that consists of two weekly visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  It is a  medically supervised exercise and education program focusing on enhancing standard medical care to control and alleviate symptoms and optimize functional capacity for patients with pulmonary disease.  The Phase II program includes:

  • Evaluation of pulmonary status
  • Assessments of exercise potential
  • Exercise training and other therapeutic exercise (aerobic and strength)
  • Group education classes
  • Assessment for special needs (nutritional counseling, social services, etc.)
  • Implementation of a home treatment program

Referral to Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Begin by talking to your health care provider about your interest in the program.  Your doctor will give you a referral to a program.

Reimbursement

Medicare and most major insurance carriers recognize the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program for reimbursement.
