Welcoming a child into the world can bring with it many questions. That’s why Baylor Grapevine offers parent education classes to help answer your questions when it comes to childbirth and parenthood. The Family Resource Center at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine provides comprehensive childbirth education designed to specifically meet the needs of growing families.
Baylor Grapevine offers a wide variety of courses to help you prepare for the big event. Whether you’re pregnant with your first child, or are already a parent, you’ll find these courses full of helpful information. To register for any of the classes listed below, obtain class prices or for more information, please call 1.800.4BAYLOR. Class space is limited, so we recommend you register during your first trimester.
This six-session course is designed to prepare you and your spouse or partner for the experience of labor and delivery. The topics covered include breathing and relaxation techniques, methods of anesthesia, vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Everything you’ll need to know for breastfeeding is also included with classes, along with a tour of Baylor Grapevine’s Women’s Center.
This class is designed to help first-time parents learn the basics of caring for a newborn. How to feed, diaper and bathe your baby will be discussed, along with growth and development, as well as helpful parenting hints.
In this course, taught by a certified lactation consultant, you’ll learn the nature and practice of breastfeeding. If you’re unsure whether or not you want to breastfeed, this course offers the information you may need to reach a decision and provides the skills that will help you breastfeed successfully.
If your baby was choking or stopped breathing, would you know what to do? This course provides the lifesaving skills you would need during emergency situations. You will receive instruction using the American Heart Association guidelines of infant/child cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This class also includes car seat installation instruction and important safety information.
