That’s why Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine offers parent education classes to help answer your questions when it comes to childbirth and parenthood. The Family Resource Center at Baylor Scott & White – Grapevine provides comprehensive childbirth education designed to specifically meet the needs of growing families.
Baylor Scott & White – Grapevine offers a wide variety of courses to help you prepare for the big event. Whether you’re pregnant with your first child, or are already a parent, you’ll find these courses full of helpful information. To register for any of the classes listed below, obtain class prices or for more information, please call 1.800.4BAYLOR. Class space is limited, so we recommend you register during your first trimester.
This class focuses on preparations for childbirth, emphasizing the experience of labor and birth and the important role of the dad/partner.Childbirth - HybridThis unique class offers a combination of a guided e-learning session and a 3-hour in-class session at the hospital to practice comfort techniques with an instructor. The validation code needed to begin the class will be emailed to you 2-5 business days after you register.Childbirth - OnlineThis class alternative is for parents who cannot attend a conventional childbirth class. This interactive, web-based program includes animated illustrations, videos and interactive games. The validation code needed to begin the class will be emailed to you 2-5 business days after you register.
This class is designed to help first-time parents learn the basics of caring for a newborn. How to feed, diaper and bathe your baby will be discussed, along with growth and development, as well as helpful parenting hints. Registration fee includes partner.
In this course, taught by a certified lactation consultant, you’ll learn the nature and practice of breastfeeding. If you’re unsure whether or not you want to breastfeed, this course offers the information you may need to reach a decision and provides the skills that will help you breastfeed successfully.Breastfeeding OnlineThis class is designed for those who prefer to learn in the comfort of their own home. The validation code needed to begin the class will be emailed to you 2-5 business days after you register.Breastfeeding Support GroupThis support group is a place for moms to come with their babies (birth-12 months) and share their challenges, and find help in a safe, non-judgmental and fun environment. No registration is required and there is no fee.
If your baby was choking or stopped breathing, would you know what to do? This course provides the lifesaving skills you would need during emergency situations. You will receive instruction using the American Heart Association guidelines of infant/child cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This class also includes car seat installation instruction and important safety information. Each person must register individually for a space in this class.Maternity TourThis interactive tour provides the expectant couple the opportunity to become familiar with Labor and Delivery as well as Postpartum and Nursery Units. Pre-registration is required. There is no fee.Safe SitterThis course teaches 11-to 13-year-olds how to be safe, nurturing babysitters.
