Baylor Medical Center at Irving is the premier medical facility providing care to Irving, Las Colinas, Coppell, Grand Prairie and the surrounding communities. The not-for-profit, full-service, fully-accredited hospital offers advanced health care services in in heart and vascular care, diagnostic imaging, digestive disorders, physical medicine and rehabilitation, cancer care prevention, diagnosis and treatment, orthopaedic surgery, and emergency medicine. The 296-bed hospital is centrally located in the heart of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex on State Highway 183. Baylor Irving is accredited by The Joint Commission. The medical center recently celebrated 50 years of service in November 2014.

Heart and Vascular Services

Baylor Irving offers comprehensive cardiac care, including diagnostic, interventional, surgical and rehabilitation services. The Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care has awarded Baylor Medical Center at Irving with full Cycle III accreditation with PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) This accreditation is awarded to medical centers that undergo an in-depth on-site inspection. Baylor Irving is accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care in Heart Failure. Baylor Irving features Sterotaxis technology, where surgeons use magnets to lead catheters and wires to precise locations in the heart. Combined with a 3-D mapping system, surgeons can record where they've been and return to any position they've visited. Patients who need angioplasty or stenting benefit from this advanced technology.

Cancer Care

Baylor Irving is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, for providing patients with access to a full range of advanced oncology services and a multidisciplinary team approach to coordinating treatment options. The Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Irving is also recognized as a National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers for its dedication to quality breast care.

Quality treatment for cancer doesn't have to be invasive. Radiation therapy at Baylor Irving may be the most effective, least disruptive way to treat some types of cancer, or it may be used in addition to other treatments. The specialists at Baylor Irving have the experience and tools to determine which form of radiation therapy is right for each individual patient, and whether or not the therapy should be used in conjunction with surgery or chemotherapy. Baylor Irving utilizes both intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and high-dose rate brachytherapy. Baylor Irving also utilizes an oncology nurse navigator, who serves as a patient educator and advocate, care coordinator and system navigator for those diagnosed with cancer.


Quality orthopedic services are available close to home for patients in Irving and the surrounding communities. These services include prevention, surgery and physical therapy. The most frequently performed surgical procedures at the medical center include anterior approach to hip replacements, arthroscopic knee surgery and hip and knee joint replacements. Baylor Irving provides specialized care for orthopaedic patients. Each patient attends an educational class, where they receive a "playbook" specific to either the hip or knee surgery, receive pre-education about their procedures together, tour the unit as a group, arrive on the same day for their surgery. 

Advanced Imaging Services

Fully accredited by the American College of Radiology, Baylor Irving provides a full range of diagnostic imaging services. Evenings and weekend appointments are available for the patient's convenience. Our fully-equipped radiology department is well prepared to serve the needs of patients and physicians in our area. Baylor Irving offers a High Field 1.5T MRI, General CT, 64-slice CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, PET/ CT (Positron Emission Tomography) scan, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Women's Imaging, Digital Mammography, Bone Densitometry and Urodynamics.

Recognition & Awards

Baylor Medical Center at Irving received Magnet designation in 2014. The hospital regularly receives numerous awards and accolades including the VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence, recognizing medical centers that achieve exceptionally high levels of clinical performance. Baylor Irving achieved sustained scores in the top quartile for all four core measure categories including treating heart attacks, surgical care improvement project, treating heart failure and prevention of pneumonia. Recently, Baylor Irving has been recognized by US News and World Report in the top 10 Best Regional Hospitals as well as a top performer in four specialties including diabetes and endocrinology, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonary, and gastroenterology. Baylor Irving received the Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award of Excellence, the top quality improvement award from TMF Health Quality Institute, Texas' Medicare Quality Improvement Organization. Out of 227 participating Texas hospitals, only 27 met the criteria and were presented with the Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award.

Community Programs

Collaborating with the community through proactive health care initiatives helps Baylor Irving achieve the Baylor Health Care System's mission. Baylor Irving provides health fairs, presentations, screenings, outreach programs and supplies to area school districts, chambers of commerce, health associations, churches, employers and civic organizations.
