Many of us go through periods of having the "blues" in life, particularly as we get older. However, we may not realize that some of these "normal signs of aging" such as sadness, mood swings and loss of interest in regular activities may actually be symptoms of a mental illness which can be diagnosed, treated and alleviated. Baylor Behavioral Health Senior Care helps older adults and their families to better address these needs and move forward in recovery.
Baylor Behavioral Health Senior Care unit provides inpatient services to adults ages 65+ who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Our skilled team works in tandem with Baylor Irving hospital services to address both mental and physical health needs simultaneously and cohesively.
Patients may stay seven to 14 days as part of recovery-centered approach. The program encourages individuals to reconnect with their hopes and personal movtivations. The advanced psychiatric and medical care offered is based on a combination of individual and family therapy, including occupational therapy and education.

Our goal is to provide a safe, therapeutic environment which allos your loved one to maintain as much normalcy in their everyday routines as possible. That's why our 11-bed unit provides rooms for patient comfort, safety and convenience.
Family participation is encouraged to facilitate the patients return to a healthy life. Close family contact with the treatment team provides better understanding of each patient's needs and facilitates a smooth transition back to the home environment or residential care facility after discharge from the program.
