Our Children's House at Waxahachie 

Our Services

Our Children’s House Waxahachie has provided quality occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy services on an outpatient basis since opening its doors nearly 17 years ago. Services have expanded to include nutrition and social work services for patients and their families.

Our services include: 

  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Speech/language therapy
  • Parent education and support
  • Care coordination
  • Developmental screenings and equipment assessments

Specialized Treatment Programs:

In addition to our standard services, we offer specialized programs specifically tailored to your child's unique needs: 

  • Feeding therapy for children with neurological and/or behavioral feeding disorders, including feeding group therapy
  • Sensorimotor/defensiveness, helping patients and families understand and improve sensory processing
  • Handwriting disorders (dysgraphia)
  • Modified Barium Swallow Studies
  • Orthotics Clinic
  • Sensory integration to help patients and families understand and improve sensory processing
  • Therapeutic listening program
  • Interactive Metronome
  • Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (Vital Stim®) 
  • Aquatic therapy using the resistive qualities of water to help children improve balance, strength and range of motion
  • Group classes that can enhance a patient’s ability to achieve their goals. These may include groups for feeding, social skills, articulation, motor planning, etc.

Our Staff

Stephanie Patterson, OTR, Clinical Manager
Stephanie is a graduate of UTMB in Galveston with a bachelor's in occupational therapy. She has experience in adult inpatient, outpatient and skilled nursing settings. Stephanie has attended multiple training opportunities in sensory, handwriting, NDT and orthopedics, and she is certified in Therapeutic Listening and Interactive Metronome therapies.

Physical Therapists

Jill Buie, PT, holds a bachelor's degree in health education from Texas A&M University and a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She has expertise in aquatic therapy, Down Syndrome and local community resources for children with special needs.

Kara Gintert, DPT, is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a doctorate degree in physical therapy. Her career began as a traveling physical therapist working in IP, occupational therapy with adults and pediatrics before joining OCH Waxahachie.

Sarah Poling, DPT, graduated from The Ohio State University with a doctorate degree in physical therapy, and currently works with the Waxahachie and Grapevine OCH facilities. Sarah has worked with a variety of patients and has a passion for orthopedics.

Speech Therapists

Celina Banda, MS, CCC-SLP, completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma and earned a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She has worked in skilled nursing environments, adult and pediatric home health, and acute care. Celina’s pediatric experience was expanded when she joined the OCH Waxahachie team, and she is trained in Beckman Oral Motor and is Vital Stim® Therapy.

Lindsi Bourgeois, MS, CCC-SLP, holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's degree in speech language pathology from The University of Texas at Dallas. She is certified in Vital Stim® Therapy and trained in Beckman Oral Motor and PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets). Lindsi has a special interest in feeding.

Jill Hannebaum, MS, CCC-SLP, is a graduate of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science in speech pathology, and also holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington. Before joining OCH Waxahachie, Jill worked with public schools as a speech language pathologist. Jill has also worked in adult outpatient, inpatient and skilled nursing settings. During her years as a speech language pathologist, she has earned certifications in Vital Stimulation and has also received training in Beckman Oral Motor.

Occupational Therapists

Heather Gordon, OTR, is a graduate of Texas Woman’s University with a master's degree in occupational therapy.  She has experience with the pediatric population through her years as a junior high school teacher and internship as an occupational therapy student with a local school district. 

Alyssa Pierce, OTR, holds a bachelor’s degree in child development and a master's degree in occupational therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She began her time in the Baylor system with an internship at the Irving location in the acute and outpatient adult setting, and later worked at the Las Colinas OCH site until transferring to Waxahachie. Alyssa is certified in Therapeutic Listening and is also a child passenger safety technician. 

Lisa Lopez, OTR, is an occupational therapist with Dallas ISD and also works with OCH Waxahachie on an as-needed basis with children needing occupational therapy.

Office Staff

Vickie Kendrick is the office manager for Our Children's House Waxahachie. She is attending Stephen F. Austin University to complete her degree in elementary education EC-6.

Jennifer Statham is the administrative assistant at OCH Waxahachie. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University. Prior to joining OCH, she worked professional sports and in the school system in the athletics department.
