BAYLOR PLANO AND THE HEART HOSPITAL BAYLOR PLANO PRESENT FOR WOMEN FOR LIFE

Free event gives women a morning to focus on their health. 

(PLANO, TEXAS Jan. 7, 2010) For Women For Life™ is a free event hosted by Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano and THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano where women can take a morning to focus on their health, wellness, beauty and lifestyle. At the event on January 22, sessions will cover various topics of interest to women. Featured sessions include: 

Taking Control of Female Incontinence. Shayzreen Roshanravan, M.D., a urogynecologist on the medical staff at Baylor Plano, will lead this session. She notes, “Many women modify their lives for fear of leaking urine, yet don’t realize treatment options are out there.” The session will cover treatment options for common problems such as:

  • Frequent, urgent need to urinate
  • Leaking a small amount of urine
  • Feeling as though the bladder doesn’t empty all the way, or that the urine stream is weak
  • Leaking urine when running, jumping, coughing, sneezing or laughing, which leads women to limit their activities 

Healthy Weigh of Life. Anthony O’Connell, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist on the medical staff at Baylor Plano, will head this session covering weight loss, nutrition and metabolic issues. You’ll understand how your food choices and your lifestyle affect your weight, and learn techniques for losing weight safely, and keeping the extra pounds off.  

More Than a Bad Headache. In her session, Sara Robinson, M.D., an internal medicine specialist on the medical staff at Baylor Plano, will cover diagnosing and treating four common types of headaches:

  • Migraines
  • Tension headaches
  • Cluster headaches
  • Medication-overuse headaches 

Fast Fixes for Female Trouble. Endometriosis, fibroids and cysts can deliver plenty of problems, but this lecture offers solutions including robotic technology. Presented by Murray Fox, M.D., Daryl Greebon, M.D., Dennis Eisenberg, M.D., and Jules Monier, M.D., gynecologists on the medical staff at Baylor Plano. 9 to 10 a.m. Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano, Level G, Education Room 3. 

The For Women For Life event will also include free screenings for:

  • Skin cancer
  • Low bone density
  • Abnormal body mass index
  • Hearing problems
  • Scoliosis
  • Insufficient lung volume
  • Abnormal cholesterol levels
  • High blood pressure
  • High glucose levels 

A shuttle will transport women between the two hospitals so they can take advantage of the offerings at both locations.
