History 

Our History

Backed by 100 years of experience, the Baylor Health Care System expanded into Collin County in 2004 with the opening of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano.

Since opening, Baylor Plano has added new services and building space to help meet the specific health needs of adults in North Texas.  

  • A seven-story facility, Baylor Plano grew from a 96-inpatient-bed facility to a 128-bed facility in 2007.
  • In January 2007, Baylor Plano became home to THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano, the first and only freestanding, full-service hospital in this region dedicated solely to heart and vascular health care.
  • An oncology dedicated unit and infusion and dialysis unit was added in June 2007.
  • In 2008, Baylor Plano began construction on a second medical office pavilion.  
  • Additional shell space is available for future growth on the sixth floor of the hospital.
  • Among the many services that have been added to Baylor Plano since its opening are: The Baylor Scoliosis Center, daVinci® S Surgical System and treatment for Barrett’s Esophagus.
